Chicago-Made ‘Reporting for Christmas’ and ‘Christmas on the Ranch’ Streaming Everywhere

Two holiday rom-coms filmed in the Chicago area are now available to stream for free on most major platforms. After premiering exclusively on Hulu as Top 15 new releases, the family-friendly Reporting for Christmas and Christmas on the Ranch can be viewed anytime on Tubi, The Roku Channel, Pluto TV, and more.

Reporting for Christmas follows idealistic reporter Mary Romero on an assignment to do a puff piece about a Christmas toy manufacturer and the charming toymaker who inspires Mary to search her heart to find true happiness. Christmas on the Ranch is about a talk show relationship expert with her own romantic hang-ups who gets stranded at a ranch before Christmas and the charming rancher who reminds her that love is worth the risk.

Here is a look at the trailer for Reporting for Christmas…

The movies were produced by the Illinois-based Very Merry Entertainment and feature plenty of talent with local ties on both sides of the camera. Reporting for Christmas was directed by Jack C. Newell (Hope Springs Eternal) and stars Matt Trudeau (ABC’s General Hospital), Kelvin John Davis (Showtime’s The First Lady), Maura  Kidwell (USA’s Sirens), and D.B. Sweeney (The Cutting Edge).

The cast of Christmas on the Ranch includes Saige Chaseley (Very Merry’s Christmas with Felicity), Malkia  Stampley (AMC’s 61st Street), and Amy Sloan (Apple’s Truth Be Told). Suzanne C. Johnson (The World Without  You) and Jeremy Warner (The Christmas Letter) have supporting roles and were on the producing teams of both  films. Nearly all the crew members reside in Illinois.

“It was great to have these movies premiere on Hulu as Top 15 new releases,” said John W. Bosher, who is a  partner at Very Merry and produced both projects. “But we also recognize that not everyone has a Hulu or Disney+  Bundle subscription.”

“We’re thrilled the films are now streaming for free on most major platforms, many of which don’t even require an  account,” added fellow Very Merry partner and producer Chris Charles. “They can be enjoyed by anyone, anytime,  on any device.”

Reporting for Christmas and Christmas on the Ranch are also streaming on Vizio, Xumo Play, and Amazon’s “Always Christmas” FAST channel and are available in libraries via Hoopla and on DVD through Midwest Tape.
