Chicago-Made ‘Christmas on the Ranch’ Will Premiere Exclusively on Hulu November 1
The family-friendly holiday romance movie Christmas on the Ranch will premiere exclusively on Hulu November 1, 2024. The heartwarming film follows a talk show relationship expert with her own romantic hang-ups who gets stranded at a ranch before Christmas, and the charming rancher who reminds her that love is always worth the risk.
Christmas on the Ranch was directed by acclaimed filmmaker Danny Buday, who directed Second Chance Christmas (2017) for UPtv, Country Christmas Album (2018) for ION Television, and several features for Lifetime. The film stars Daytime Emmy Award-winning actress Jade Harlow (Amazon’s The Bay) and Houston Rhines (A Christmas Switch) in addition to an ensemble of Chicago actors that includes Saige Chaseley (Christmas with Felicity), Malkia Stampley (AMC’s 61st Street), and Amy Sloan (Apple TV’s Truth Be Told).
Here’s your first look at the holiday feature…
Christmas on the Ranch was filmed on location in Chicago and the northwest suburbs with most of principal photography taking place at Country Ridge Stables in Mundelein, Zia West in Hawthorn Woods, and WGN Radio in downtown Chicago. Additional photography took place at Chatterbox of Long Grove, the Sock Monkey Museum, and Robert Parker Coffin Bridge in Historic Downtown Long Grove as well as Dakota K Auto Repair & Tire Center in Arlington Heights, Bende in Vernon Hills, and a private residence in Oak Park.
Christmas on the Ranch is the third collaboration between Chicago-based production company Very Merry Entertainment and Nicely Entertainment and the second exclusive premiere with Hulu following the release of Reporting for Christmas last year. Hulu is one of the biggest streaming platforms with over 50 million subscribers and is now available as part of the Disney Bundle subscriptions.
Very Merry partners John W. Bosher and Chris Charles produced Christmas on the Ranch with Jonathan Bross serving as an executive producer. Additional executive producers include Vanessa Shapiro and Scott Kirkpatrick of Nicely Entertainment, Suzanne C. Johnson, Michael Okun, Arlene Okun, and Jeremy Warner. Post-Production was done at Journeywork Entertainment, Noisefloor, and Periscope Post & Audio in Chicago. Nicely is handling worldwide distribution and brokered the premiere on Hulu.
“We think viewers will especially enjoy all the amazing horses featured in the movie,” said Bosher, who also noted that the production worked with American Humane and received their No Animals Were Harmed® certification. “We’re thrilled to be working with Hulu again and look forward to sharing the film with audiences this holiday season,” said Charles.
Nicely’s CEO and Founder, Vanessa Shapiro, added: “We’re excited to once again be collaborating with the amazing team at Very Merry Entertainment on Christmas on the Ranch and are thrilled that Hulu will be premiering this gem of a Christmas film exclusively!”
Christmas on the Ranch can be streamed exclusively on Hulu beginning November 1, 2024 and will be available on additional platforms in 2025.
