‘Chicago Fire,’ ‘Chicago P.D.,’ ‘Chicago Med’ Begin Filming This Week

ChiHards have been waiting far too long to hear these four words: One Chicago is back! With the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes now in the rearview, NBC’s three cornerstone dramas Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med are ready to roll cameras in the Windy City this week.

So where will the three shows be filming around town this week?

According to multiple sources, including our friends at Filming In Chicago, Fire will be… right where you would expect them to be, at the Firehouse at 1360 S Blue Island Avenue. Next week, the production is expected to set up shop near the neighborhood of Cullerton and Damen Avenues.

Chicago PD will be rolling cameras on the South Side over the next week. The squad is expected to be near the neighborhood of Albany Avenue and 19th Street throughout the week.

Chicago Med will be filming on the South Side this week, near 1400 South Wood.

And be sure to mark your calendars! Earlier this month, NBC announced the new seasons of Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med will premiere on January 17, 2024.

Many Changes in the New Year

There will be quite a few personnel changes in the One Chicago universe. There is one change Chicago Fire fans will be celebrating: as you have likely already heard, Kelly Severide is coming back to the firehouse. Last month, NBC announced Taylor Kinney, who left Chicago Fire midway through Season 11, will be back for the upcoming 12th season. It’s not yet determined how many episodes he will appear in. According to multiple sources, his return is expected to be toward the beginning of the season. In January, the actor stepped away from the NBC procedural to deal with a personal matter. Kinney last appeared in the 14th episode of Season 11, which aired in February.

As one fan favorite returns, another says so long. The upcoming 12th season of Chicago Fire will be the last for Kara Killmer, who stars as Sylvie Brett. While Killmer will be in the first part of the season, it has not yet been determined how many episodes she will appear in, according to Variety. Killmer joined One Chicago in Season 3 in 2014, and has appeared in 193 episodes.

And a quick recap of other notable shake-ups: Nick Gehlfuss, who appeared in every episode of Chicago Med, exited at the end of last season. On Chicago P.D., Jesse Lee Soffer left at the top of last season. Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Soffer’s character’s wife Hailey Upton, will be exiting during the upcoming 11th season.

One more new development to note: Andrea Newman, formerly co-showrunner with Derek Haas, will be the sole showrunner for Chicago Fire Season 12. Haas, who co-created the series, walked away from Wolf Entertainment after Season 11.
