‘Chicago PD’ Casting Director Claire Simon Answers Five Questions with SCREEN

What do The Shield, an epic triathlon, and the best Brussels sprouts ever have in common? They’re all right here Chicago Fire and Chicago PD‘s Chicago Casting Director Claire Simon of Simon Casting stops by for a thoroughly entertaining round of Five Questions with SCREEN. Let’s get to it!

SCREEN: Your favorite casting project ever?

CLAIRE: Oh, gosh… that’s like having to pick my favorite child. Chicago PD and Chicago Fire, because they are family. Hardball, because finding the kids in that project was such a wonderful, fulfilling challenge and Boss, because the scripts were fantastic and the roles for Chicago Actors were just fabulous.

SCREEN: Your greatest athletic achievement?  

CLAIRE: I competed in a triathlon. My goals were to finish and not die. And, I was successful at both.

SCREEN: What is one piece of advice you would give to an actor coming into your office to audition?

CLAIRE: Prepare as though you know you have the role, and come in to the room knowing we are all on your side.

SCREEN: If you could bring back any canceled TV show in history, what would it be?

CLAIRE: The Shield. I swear I binge watched 7 seasons in about 2 weeks.

SCREEN: Your most prized possession?

CLAIRE: I can honestly say I don’t have any possessions I prize. It’s just “stuff”. Now family, love and friends. That’s what I prize.

SCREEN: One meal, one restaurant, and we’re buying. What will it be?  

CLAIRE: Brussells Sprouts salad at Sunda.

CLAIRE: I’ve never sung karaoke if you can believe that. Probably a gift to those who might have had to listen to me.

SCREEN: Worst job ever?  

CLAIRE: It would be a tie between a cashier at Walgreens and a “bun” girl at a restaurant… I handed out buns 🙂
