Best of the Super Bowl from WoW Studios EP Ross Greenblat
In the advertising world, Super Bowl Sunday is about anything but football. It’s about the commercials! We were honored to have Executive Producer Ross Greenblat of WoW Studios stop by Screen to present his picks…
SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the Super Bowl?
ROSS: We always see a lot of super bowl spots with celebrities and it sometimes seems like the brands just put them in there to say “we had a celeb in our spot”. For this spot specifically, the concept naturally integrated the legendary celebs into the spot.
Here is that rockin’ Workday spot…
SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?
ROSS: I don’t remember exactly which brand(s) they were for, but the spots that had giant QR codes, with no messaging on them at all. It was unique when Coinbase did it last year, but for this year, I think it jumped the shark.
SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year’s Super Bowl?
ROSS: I’d like to see more storytelling in spots. I think this year was a little underwhelming with that.
SCREEN: Any final words here, Ross?
ROSS: Some of my other favorites this year were “Run With It” for the NFL, “Drive Thru” for Dunkin and the spot for The Farmers Dog.
Let’s enjoy that Ben Affleck Dunkin spot one more time…
