BarkleyOKRP ECD Matt McNulty Shares His Super Bowl Picks and Pans

In the advertising world, Super Bowl Sunday is about anything but football. It’s about the commercials! We were thrilled to have BarkleyOKRP ECD Matt McNulty stop by Screen after the game to present his picks…

SCREEN: What was your favorite spot of the Super Bowl?

MATT: I had two favorites. I liked Xfinity’s Jurassic Park spot, because it can be such a challenge working with that many big stars and a big IP, but they really brought it together in a great way.

I also loved the Claude spots. Super clean and well made, reminded me of the days when Super Bowl ads weren’t just about which celebrities could be pushed together to do something wacky.

Let’s take a look at that Jurassic Park spot…

SCREEN: What was your least favorite spot of the night or a spot you felt could have been more successful?

MATT: There were a lot of spots this year that didnt leave much of a mark. It’s a great feat to get any Super Bowl spot made, so im not going to call out which ones I thought came up the shortest.

SCREEN: What would you like to see more or less of in terms of advertising in next year’s Super Bowl?

MATT: I’d like to see more actual ideas. Not just flash or sizzle. Not just two celebrities you didnt see coming together. Idea driven work.
