‘American Schemers’ Midwest Premiere at Heartland International Oct 17
Following the raucous response to the world premiere as the closing night film for AGLIFF, AMERICAN SCHEMERS is having its Midwest premiere at the prestigious Heartland International Film Festival in on Thursday, October 17th. This film, using Chicago and the Chicago-suburbs as locations for New York City and Wisconsin, tells the story of two con artists who pose as heirs to a deceased socialite, only to find that the community they’ve infiltrated is as crooked as they are.

The film was written by and stars Michael Waller and Sydney Blackburn in the title roles of the two best friend / con artists. They are supported by a stacked cast of comedians including Ithamar Enriquez (WandaVision), Keith Kupferer (Ghostlight), Jean Villepique (A.P. Bio), Kimberly Michelle Vaughan, Richard David, Paulina Olszynski, George Elrod, Tim Metzler, George C. Owens. The film was directed by Jack C. Newell and produced by Patrick Wimp, who brought their comedy experience gained at The Second City to the table to help realize this script.
AMERICAN SCHEMERS is a throwback comedy – double entendre jokes (sometimes even triple entendres), mistaken identities, door-slamming farcical sequence, musical numbers, and there’s even a cream pie fight in it. The film showcases the amazing comedic talent Chicago has to offer and the high production value achieved by the crew who created it.
More screenings for AMERICAN SCHEMERS coming this fall and winter. Be sure to check back here at SCREEN Magazine for the latest news from the filmmaking community between the coasts. You can also click right here to subscribe to our weekly email newsletter.
