A24’s ‘Enemies’ Starring Jeremy Allen White and Austin Butler Begins Filming in Chicago in May

A bonafide blockbuster will be storming into Chicago this Spring, with a familiar face for Chicago TV fans on board.

A24 is bringing its latest thriller Enemies to Chicago. Our friends at Reel Chicago initially broke the Enemies news last month, and now the production has begun to further take shape. Sources tell SCREEN the sizable production will begin a 32-day shoot in Chicago at the end of May. Pre-production is underway, Enemies is headquartered at Cinespace, and the bulk of filming will take place on location in and around the Windy City. Estimated budget for the production is in the $25 million range.

The star of Chicago’s smash hit series The Bear Jeremy Allen White will be leading this project alongside Elvis star Austin Butler. White is, of course, coming off Golden Globe and Emmy wins for The Bear, as well as the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, while Butler boards Enemies following his Oscar nominated star turn in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and villainous performance in recent Best Picture nom Dune: Part Two.

Here’s a glance back at Butler’s superb stint as Elvis…

A24 has officially tapped filmmaker Henry Dunham to write and direct its upcoming thriller. The film marks Dunham’s return to the director’s chair following his 2018 debut, The Standoff at Sparrow Creek.

Here’s a look at the trailer for Dunham’s 2018 debut…

Additional details of the storyline have also surfaced this week. Enemies is reportedly set to follow a lone contract killer who takes on a new assignment, after which his story clashes with that of a detective. At that moment, the two of them realize that they might be more similar than they initially thought.
