2nd Annual ‘Day of Destiny Entertainment Summit’ Unites Hollywood Heavyweights and Chicago Creatives to Fuel Midwest Production Boom

Momentum is surging in the Illinois entertainment sector following the massive success of the 2nd Annual Day of Destiny Entertainment Summit: Hidden Figures – Movers. Shakers. Decision Makers.

Presented by Destiny Outreach (DO!) and Destiny Unlimited, Inc., in exclusive partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events (DCASE) | Chicago Film Office, the summit convened top-tier industry executives, creators, and local professionals on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for a high-intensity day of dealmaking, education, and strategic networking.

The summit represents a deeply personal mission for Chicago native Danita E. Patterson, Event Producer, CEO of Destiny Unlimited, Inc., and Founder of Destiny Outreach. Designed to support and elevate Chicago’s already robust production market, the event injected Hollywood-specific development strategy directly into the local filmmaking community.

“I feel so blessed that the 2nd Annual Day of Destiny Entertainment Summit was a huge success and so well received by everyone in attendance,” said Patterson. “It was an honor to bring this vision and heartfelt intention back to my hometown of Chicago, supporting our incredible local community with the tools and industry-specific insight needed to fuel Illinois’s rapidly expanding entertainment footprint.”

Forging Deals and Insider Access

Industry insiders, panelists, and attendees widely praised the summit as one of the premier entertainment events of the year, pointing specifically to the rare level of access and the curation of its masterclass-level panels. Major business deals, fresh collaborations, and critical state and city relationships were actively forged behind the scenes in the green room and during intensive networking sessions.

The program tackled the complexities of the modern entertainment landscape across three cornerstone panels:

  • ENTERTAINMENT FINANCING: Understanding the 360 of Film & TV Funding
  • SHOWRUNNERS & WRITERS: Creating & Producing for TV & Film
  • DEVELOP. PRODUCE. DISTRIBUTE: The Art of the Deal Cycle

The daytime intensives culminated in a powerhouse, Chicago-centric headliner event: a Fireside Chat featuring legendary actor Harry Lennix and Film/TV Producer Danita Patterson, titled “Hollywood to Chicago – Back Home with Friends.”

Capitalizing on the Momentum: The FAM Tour

The summit’s impact extended well past Sunday’s final panel. On Monday, May 4, 2026, the momentum was converted into immediate economic action during an exclusive Familiarization (FAM) Tour hosted for Los Angeles and Canadian entertainment dignitaries.

Designed to showcase Chicago’s world-class infrastructure and competitive tax incentives, the tour was led by key regional power players, including:

  • Natasha Olguin, Deputy Commissioner, Chicago Film Office
  • Louis Ferrara, Deputy Director, Illinois Film Office
  • Tony Barracca, Business Manager/Treasurer/Secretary, IATSE Local 476
  • Christine Dudley, Executive Director, Illinois Production Alliance

The delegation toured Chicago’s premier production hubs, making stops at Cinespace Studios, CineCity Studios, and The Fields Studios. The direct pipeline created by the summit and subsequent tour has already drummed up significant new production business for the region, with multiple projects and partnerships currently in development.
