Kris Rey Answers Five Questions with SCREEN
July 29, 2020 by Screenmag
The SXSW critics' pick I USED TO GO HERE makes its drive-in theater debut tonight in Chicago, fresh off a glowing review from the Chicago Tribune's Michael Phillips. Before heading to the drive-in tonight, director Kris Rey stopped by for Five Questions with Screen... Update: I USED TO GO HERE is now available worldwide on iTunes, click here to buy or rent today!
SCREEN: Why should all Chicagoans head to the drive-in tonight to see your new film I USED TO GO HERE?
KRIS: It seems a little intense to say that ALL Chicagoans should go the screening tonight, but if anyone is at all interested I think it will be majorly fun. I had my very first drive-in experience last month and found it to be extremely rewarding. The drive-in we are screening at here apparently serves frozen mango to your car, which I’m very excited about.
SCREEN: In the spirit of I USED TO GO HERE... if you could have done one thing differently in college, what would it have been?
KRIS: Honestly, I would have focused more on my studies! That sounds so boring, but it’s true. I had so much fun in college and if I could go back I would definitely try to take advantage of the learning part.
SCREEN: What has been your favorite "stay-at-home" activity over the past few months?
KRIS: I’ve been listening to podcasts and going on really really long walks. I’m talking two or three hour long walks.
SCREEN: What's your go-to karaoke song?
KRIS: I’m nuts for Karaoke. My go-to is probably STAY by Rihanna, but I also love to sing SOMEONE LIKE YOU by Adele.
SCREEN: What's that TV show you're a little embarrassed to admit you love to watch?
KRIS: What’s the one with all the hot people on the island that can’t have sex? I loved that one.
SCREEN: If you could appoint ANYONE to be President of the United States, who would it be? Why?
KRIS: AOC. She’s killer.
SCREEN: Worst job ever?
KRIS: There are good aspects to every job I’ve ever had, but the tie for worst is between Old Navy and Potbelly’s. I worked at both in Chicago right after college.
SCREEN: What's your favorite restaurant on Earth (any city, any country)? What do we order when we go?
KRIS: I am a lover of restaurants and have so many favorites, but my absolute favorite place in Chicago is Cellar Door Provisions. Order as much as you can eat - it’s all incredible.
