David O'Connor Answers Five Questions with SCREEN

This week, casting director David O'Connor of O'Connor Casting answers Five Questions with SCREEN. One of the premier casting offices in the country for Commercial, Film and Television... Click here to check out OCC's Super Bowl spot earlier this year. Ok let's get to the questions!

SCREEN: What has been your favorite "stay-at-home" activity over the past few weeks?

DAVID: Massive toss up question. Creating amazing LEGO creations, cooking, and spending time with my kids.

SCREEN: If you could be a member of any band in music history, what would it be? Why?

DAVID: First, I’d be awful as my musical talent and my ability to remember lyrics is non-existent. But band wise, I’d love to play drums for Green Day or Red Hot Chili Peppers. Those bands have seen some rough, crazy, epic times throughout their career.

SCREEN: If you could play any superhero in a major motion picture, who would it be? Why?

DAVID: Iron Man, because I like to make things and he’s a smartmouth, wealthy, philanthropic genius.

SCREEN: What is inspiring you today?

DAVID: Truly... honesty, integrity, love and kindness. I have always been inspired by commitment and people coming together to get things done the best they can.

SCREEN: Best summer vacation ever?

DAVID: Dang you, Screen, and your amazing questions. I have two. First - from childhood it was most summers as I would just play softball, ride my bike with friends from the neighborhood, and just enjoy pure kid freedom. Second - this past summer we did the odd thing and went to Atlanta & Savannah, Georgia, as a family (wife & 2 kids). We had zero plans and it turned out to be the perfect unscripted trip.

SCREEN: What is your biggest fear?

DAVID: Zombie Apocalypse attacking my family. It would get bloody. Or... Being caught in a fire on a submarine. That one gives me nightmares as there is just so little chance of escape.

SCREEN: What was the greatest casting challenge of your career?

DAVID: Too many projects to count as I’m hitting my 30 year mark. Every project is a unique challenge nowadays as the business is ever changing. As far as professional challenge, it was expanding into the new (now 9 years old) office and building an incredible comfortable work space for my incredible team, clients and actors to showcase their best.
