Big Teeth Launches Shorts Fest
October 11, 2019 by Screenmag
Fresh off the fifth consecutive year of hosting its 60-Second Film Festival as part of the Ravenswood Art Walk, Big Teeth Productions is expanding further into the world of film festival production with the launch of the Big Teeth Small Shorts Film Festival (BTSSFF).
Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback from filmmakers and audiences alike, The BTSSFF will expand into a quarterly film festival that celebrates short form storytelling from new and truly independent filmmakers from all over the world in the form of small shorts (films up to five minutes in length) and micro shorts (up to one minute in length).
The first live screening will take place on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at Empirical Brewery, where selected films will be judged by festival attendees as well as a jury of artists, advertising and film professionals, that will look for powerful and innovative ideas, creativity and quality.
“There are tons of talented filmmakers who either can’t afford to make longer films or believe in very short form storytelling and we want to give them a platform to showcase their work,” said Gregg Jaffe, Big Teeth Owner, Creative Director and BTSSFF Founder. “Most shorts categories are 40 minutes or less, so there’s a strong likelihood a 3-minute short will be overlooked. But we know, first hand, there’s a strong desire for more short form storytelling. By focusing on this unique and fun style of filmmaking, we can fill a void in the film fest community and give emerging filmmakers a chance to show who they are in just a few seconds.”
