Midwest Distributor Acquires Chicago Feature RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO
June 30, 2019 by Screenmag
During pride month, the Midwest's first and only full-service, independent film and television distributor, Cow Lamp Films announced that they acquired the rights to their first LGBTQ+ film, RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO.
Set in Chicago, writer and director Michael Glover Smith brings us his third feature film, a short, comedic film consisting of 3 vignettes that correspond to the beginning, middle and end stages of a relationship.
“In making RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO, I wanted to create a romantic-comedy anthology film that would celebrate love in its many diverse forms in a modern urban setting. I specifically intended the film to be a love letter to my hometown and that’s why I couldn’t be happier that we will screen as part of Movies in the Parks’ Onscreen Local Film Showcase in August and be distributed online by Chicago’s own Cow Lamp Films when our festival run concludes in October. Cow Lamp was the perfect fit for RENDEZVOUS and I cannot wait for them to bring our movie to a wider audience via streaming platforms in late 2019,” said Smith.
Hollywood Chicago said of RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO, "In the 30 odd years I’ve lived in Chicago, and in the 10 years I’ve done the Chicago Film Tour, I know Chicago movies. The problem was that most of them didn’t understand the Windy City vibe, especially in the relationships that develop here. Well, writer/director Michael Glover Smith gets it exquisitely right, in his three story anthology called, “RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO.”
The Chicago Sun Times reported that “RENDEZVOUS IN CHICAGO feels like eavesdropping on clever conversations.”
