The Midwest Independent Film Festival has announced an expanded Best of the Midwest Awards gala this year to be held at The Promontory Chicago.
On Thursday, January 17th, the event will celebrate the finest in Midwest filmmaking as well an exceptional year of programming and new era for the Midwest Independent Film Festival. The Best of the Midwest Awards will recognize the premier films and filmmakers featured throughout the 2018 season at the festival and recognized by public nominee votes.
The Midwest Independent Film Festival will hold the event at The Promontory in the heart of Hyde Park. The Promontory’s upstairs music venue is dedicated to celebrating the eras when spacious ballrooms and jumping jazz clubs made Chicago’s South Side the capital of American music.
“The Best of the Midwest Awards honors and spotlights not only the nominees and award recipients, but, in fact, shows the strength of the entire Midwest film community. We’re excited to have The Promontory as our partners in elevating the celebration this year, and are thrilled to have a partner so very aligned with our values of serving the entire creative community.” said Midwest Independent Film Festival Executive Director Amy Guth.
The soundtrack for the evening will be provided by special musical guest, DJ Ca$hEra, on the heels of her performance at this summer's North Coast Music Festival, and recent UK tour. Known for her blend of hip-hop and R&B styles, she is also Official DJ for Young Chicago Authors’ “Louder Than A Bomb” youth poetry festival.
In addition to the awards ceremony itself, the evening will feature food, drinks and a special guest emcee.
Early Bird tickets are $45 through December 31st. After January 1st, regular price $60, $75 at the door. The Promontory is located at 5311 S Lake Park Ave West. Chicago, IL 60615, and the event will be held from 7-11 p.m. on January 17th, 2019.
Best of the Midwest Awards nominee public voting ends Friday, December 21st at 11:59 p.m.
