Rowley Samuel Departing Energy BBDO
September 8, 2017 by Screenmag
Rowley Samuel will depart Energy BBDO today after nearly seven years as head of integrated production.
Before joining the agency in November of 2010, Samuel served as Director of Creative Integration at DDB Chicago, where he produced integrated concepts for McDonald’s, Reebok, State Farm, Budweiser and AT&T. He could not be reached for comment but the agency confirmed his departure late yesterday. No selection has yet been made on a replacement, according to the agency's spokesperson Kate Kelley.
Samuel's time at the agency corresponded with a number of high profile wins. In 2011 they secured a substantial portion of the ad business of consumer products behemoth SC Johnson. They also took over advertising for AB InBev for Bud and Bud Light.
When he originally joined the agency he had this to say about integrated production:
“I don't necessarily have a vision for the perfectly integrated production department/agency because quite honestly, I don't think such a thing exists. On a very basic level, integration is about getting the right people in the room together, solving the creative problem at hand and then actually being able to get it out of the door and executed in the best possible way...which is a lot more difficult than it sounds. Luckily, the production team along with the rest of Energy BBDO and Proximity Chicago is grounded in the right structure and primed with potential. I see myself as a person to help connect some of the dots.”
