New Spot Features GOT Star Dinklage For Cisco

HBO's Game of Thrones wrapped up its latest season in dramatic form last Sunday and to coincide with it, Cisco turned to the show's great Peter Dinklage to ponder the connected world.

The three-minute spot, from Ogilvy with the talents of Another Country, Optimus and Company 3, shows Dinklage walking through London and addressing some big questions. It introduces the world to Cisco's new "interest-based networking" solutions. The campaign is titled "The Network. Intuitive." The solutions will help clients speed up digital operations and protect against future cyber attacks.

"The challenge of cutting together a piece like this is making sure Peter's dialog is clear and consistent as he walks through the streets of London, so Ogilvy tapped Another Country for the mix," said Tim Konn, executive producer at Another Country. "Everything was recorded well, but there were inevitable variations in ambiances, as well as a lot of random city sounds, that could distract the viewer from the message. So we cleaned up the dialog and made sure the tone is consistent throughout."

John Binder did the initial mix, editing the dialog, and creating sound design to compliment the gravity of Peter's voice and the music track. David Gerbosi then mixed in the final track and did the various cut downs and 5.1 cinema mix. At Optimus, EP/Managing Director Brian Hrastar produced the spot for Editor Randy Palmer.

We worked with Ogilvy, our new agency, to develop the idea for the video,” Cisco's chief marketing officer Karen Walker said in a blog post. “Peter Dinklage is the perfect messenger because of his global fame and ability to speak in a bold, intelligent and captivating way. As he wanders through the streets of London, you hang on each of his words as he describes just how simple—and monumental—the new network is.”

Company 3' Senior Colorist at Company 3, Tyler Roth was excited to work on the project.

"We were thrilled to be approached again for a high profile piece for Cisco, particularly due to Peter’s involvement and the incredible environments and aerials that production captured," Roth said. "It was a blast working with Ogilvy and Cisco directly to bring these different scenes and textures into a cohesive world and build up a dramatic and elegant look."
