Chicago Screenwriter Brings Hollywood Home

The BIG IDEAS Screenwriting Seminar heads to Chicago, February 4th through 6th.

Noreen Cashman of Wilmette attended a screenwriting seminar last year and was so excited by the opportunity to learn from a successful industry professional she decided to bring Hollywood back to her hometown. BIG IDEAS, a weekend intensive created by working working Los Angeles film producer Barri Evins, so impressed Cashman that she wanted her fellow writers to have the same experience. “I’m amazed at what I came away with in a weekend,” says Cashman.

Cashman, active in numerous Chicago screenwriting and playwriting groups, explains, “Barri's seminar forever alters how you look at and develop new ideas. It rockets your writing to the next level,” says Cashman, who also took Evins’ Masters Seminar, THE BIG LEAP. She’s excited to be working on a concept created in the seminar with the potential to launch her career.

In an intimate and interactive weekend limited to ten students, Evins teaches writers to target career-catapulting ideas and gives them strategies to complete their scripts faster than they dreamed possible. According to BIG IDEAS student John Arends of Chicago, “Barri’s one of a kind tools and exercises were extraordinary and helpful in the extreme. Just golden!”

“Countless writers spend their energy endlessly rewriting,” says Evins. “With the BIG IDEAS approach, my students are working on ideas that can ignite industry interest, have a road map to ensure their story is becomes a completed screenplay and that their script can become a film audiences will find both entertaining and meaningful. That’s my idea of a great success story!”
