CNGM Pictures & The Independent Critic to Sponsor the Illinois Premiere of The Exploding Girl at The Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival!
Chicagoland-based CNGM Pictures NFP and TheIndependentCritic.com are proud to be sponsoring the ILLINOIS PREMIERE of THE EXPLODING GIRL at the 2010 Blue Whiskey Independent Film Festival on Saturday, July 24th at 7:00 PM! Screening will take place at the Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center (150 E. Wood Street) in Palatine, Illinois.
The Exploding Girl is a voyeuristic-style film that introduces you to Ivy (played by Zoe Kazan), a twenty-year-old college student back home in New York City for Spring Break. Her longtime friend, Al (played by Mark Rendall) finds himself without a place to stay, so Ivy and her mother take him in for the week. As their friendship begins to strengthen into a new form, Ivy's boyfriend grows more and more distant. She begins increasingly distressed about her conflicting feelings and struggles to keep control, not wanting her overwhelming emotions to trigger her epilepsy. Restrained and meditative, The Exploding Girl is the exquisite portrait of a young girl coming of age and finding a deeper kind of love.
The film made it's World Premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2009 and then went on to the Tribeca Film Festival, where leading actress Zoe Kazan (also seen in Revolutionary Road & It's Complicated) took home the award for Best Actress.
Writer/Director Bradley Rust Gray is a Fulbright scholar who has received graduate degrees from both USC and the British Institute in London. CNGM Pictures is excited and honored to cosponsor this state premiere as Gray received his undergraduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he focused on architecture, sculpture and experimental filmmaking.
The Exploding Girl is one of 32 films screening at the 2010 Blue Whiskey ndependent Film Festival July 21st through 24th. For more information, please ontact CNGM Pictures Executive Director Michael Noens at ichael@cngmpictures.com. Tickets & passes are available at http://bwiff.com.
